A long-time member of the Metra Board of Directors is resigning due to health reasons.

John Partelow, who was appointed in July 2009 to the board by the Will County Executive, and was elected vice chairman in November 2012 – serving in that role as recently as November – is stepping down.

Will County Executive Larry Walsh Sr. will now interview and nominate a replacement.

According to his Metra bio, Partelow was chairman of the Will County Republican Party from 1998 until 2008. Prior to his selection as chairman, he served from 1996 to 1998 as the party’s secretary.

Partelow retired in 1994 after a 32-year career at Dunn and Bradstreet, where he rose to the position of senior vice president, national field operations.

The Metra Board is comprised of members from Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage and Will counties.
