BOLINGBROOK – A 19-year-old man connected to a fatal hit-and-run has surrendered to the authorities, police said.

Eduardo Avila Jr., 19, of the 2300 block of Waterbury Drive in Joliet, surrendered at the Will County courthouse Monday, Bolingbrook police Lt. Anthony Columbus said in an email.

Avila was booked into the Will County jail about 10:30 a.m. Avila faces charges of failing to stop after a crash causing personal injury or death and failing to report such a crash.

The crash allegedly led to the death of Tricia S. Hoyt, 35, of Orland Park, whose body was found Nov. 5 in the grass on the north side of the Interstate 55 Northeast Frontage Road between Venetian and Lawton Lane in Bolingbrook on.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Avila could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.
