Letter: What's new with Joliet American Legion Band

Published:

To the Editor:

The Joliet American Legion Band would like to celebrate the New Year by reflecting on a productive 2017 and by looking ahead to new and exciting musical experiences in 2018.

We concluded our busy year with a highly successful Sounds of Christmas concert at the beautiful Rialto Square Theatre under the direction of our new musical director, Kevin Macha. The Daybreak Center of Joliet was the recipient of truckloads of donated food items, thanks to our overly generous concertgoers.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum has been our rehearsal home for the past several years.

We greatly appreciate all the support and encouragement throughout these years, as we move to our new home at the newly constructed Crossroads Christian Church located on the southeast corner of Essington and Caton Farm roads, where we will continue to welcome new band members.

Our first rehearsal of the year will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in preparation for a combined concert with the JTHS Central Band and the Joliet Junior High Bands on Feb. 25 at JTHS.

Follow us at City Center events, at Bicentennial Park, or at other local venues and be sure to visit our website, jolietlegionband.org.

Thank you, Joliet, for your continued support as we entertain many with our music in the “City of Champions.”

Lois G. Henning

President, Joliet American Legion Band
