JOLIET – A Joliet man allegedly pushed and choked his girlfriend after the two got into an argument, police said.

About 10 p.m. Monday, Joliet police responded to the 100 block of Hunter Avenue in response to a report of domestic abuse, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.

The 52-year-old girlfriend of Ray Marinez, 57, alleged to police that he pushed her against a wall and choked her, Gregory said.

The girlfriend said she and Marinez got into an argument and the dispute turned physical when she went into the bedroom of their home to gather some belongings, Gregory said. Police investigated the incident and reportedly noticed a dent in the drywall of the hallway where the girlfriend said she had been pushed against, he said.

Marinez was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery. He was booked into the Will County jail.
