JOLIET – Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash Tuesday evening by the McDonough Street bridge at the Des Plaines River.
The Joliet Fire Department posted on its Facebook page about 9 p.m. of the then active incident. The post said there were 11 vehicles involved with seven patients.
Multiple emergency vehicles, including four ambulances, were responding to the scene, according to the Facebook post. The fire department also commented on its post that the scene was partially on McDonough Street west of and on the bridge.
The post also asked drivers to avoid the area if possible. Joliet Deputy Police Chief Edgar Gregory said the accident was because of the road conditions going over the bridge and that there were not any major injuries or deaths.
He added that any more information on the accident will be released Wednesday after reports are compiled.
