On May 30, the St. Mary’s Minooka Knights of Columbus distributed checks of $547.32 to each of these organizations and their representatives.

These were Special Connections (Kelly Thompson, Marin Lock), Miracle League of Joliet (Sharon Ferro), Cornerstone Services (Dorian Williams, Michelle Allen), Grundy County Co-op / REACH (Kate Ross), Easter Seals (Deb Condotti), Center for Disability (Gina Wysocki) and The Deaf Apostolate of the Joliet Diocese (Richard Kush, Raymond Gay, John Sefcik, Diane Stallings, Julie Rueb).

Also pictured are Father Tuan Van Nguyen (pastor of St. Mary’s), Dan Klepec (grand knight of St. Mary’s KC council) and ID Drive Chairpersons Craig and Joseph Kauffman.

The KC’s raised the monies last September as part of their annual Intellectual Disabilities Drive, or affectionately called the Tootsie Roll Drive.

The KC’s collected money and distributed Tootsie Rolls at the following Minooka establishments: the intersection of Wabena Ave. and McEvilley Road, Jewel/Osco, Casey’s General Store, and McDonald’s.

The collection was also accompanied by a letter campaign requesting donations from area businesses. The KC’s will be holding the 48th annual drive on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22.
