J.B. Pritzker, the Democratic candidate for governor, and Juliana Stratton, his running mate, made a trip Wednesday to social services agency Cornerstone Services, located at 777 Joyce Road in Joliet, where they met with staff members and clients.
“People who work here, who do such amazing work, are underpaid, and they haven’t seen a pay increase for too many years now,” Pritzker said.
He said these agencies have long waiting lists filled with people who need help.
“Seeing it, talking to the clients, listening to the staff here helps us actualize what the challenges are,” Pritzker said.
Stratton said visits like this are an opportunity to see damage done by Gov. Bruce Rauner.
“Under Bruce Rauner, many of those [health] facilities closed or diminished significantly because he was unwilling to fund them,” Pritzker said.
