The students went to New York to rehearse for three days with other choir members from around the world. The trip culminated with a performance in the famed Carnegie Hall.

Thirteen District 202 middle school students performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City this month as part of the 2018 Middle School Honors Performance Series Choir.

The students are: Mackenzie O'Leary (Aux Sable Middle School) and Vivian Bohm, Justin Conrad, Jonathan Gilmore, Katelyn Holloway, Lauren Keith, Michael Petro, Jr., Emma-Jo Rodgers, Justin Watt, Noelle Asiyanbi, Lillian Del Alcazar, Natalie Liapis and Malorie Wons (Ira Jones Middle School.)

Three students including Bohm attended the same program in June 2017.

Ira Jones Choir Director Karen Blair nominated the students and attended the event held June 20-24, 2018. Students submitted a resume, a singing sample and once accepted had to memorize five songs. O'Leary sang a solo and Asiyanbi introduced a song during the performance.
