Joliet closed a lane on Chicago Street as work continued Thursday on the downtown sanitary sewer project.
The northbound lane between Jefferson and Cass streets is expected to remain closed until Sept. 22. A flagger will direct traffic. Once that work is complete, lane closures will begin on West Jefferson Street between the Des Plaines River bridge and Chicago Street. That work is expected to be complete by Sept. 29.
During the work on Jefferson Street, parking will be closed on the north side of the street between Ottawa and Chicago streets to open space for traffic.
