Coroner's investigation of woman's death at Lockport Walmart still pending

The Will County Coroner’s Office's investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday inside a car at a Lockport Walmart continued Thursday.

The toxicology results for the 24-year-old woman were still pending as of Thursday afternoon, coroner’s office officials said. Chief Deputy Coroner Kevin Stevenson said Wednesday the autopsy was done, but analysis of the toxicology and police reports were not.

“Right now, it’s a pending investigation. We do not have a cause of death,” Stevenson said.

Lockport police responded to a call at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday concerning a woman who was found unresponsive at Walmart, 16241 Farrell Road. The woman was found in the back seat of a 2005 Lexus SUV, Lockport Deputy Police Chief Ron Huff has said.

When the officers arrived, they found the woman had "no obvious signs of life," Huff said. She appeared to have been in the car for a while, but police were not certain as to exactly how long she was there before being found, he said.

Her body had no signs of trauma, and it was not obvious to see that she was in the car, he said.
