On Dec. 18, the Joliet Township High School Board of Education recognized the YMCA Teen Achievers Program for their excellent service to the community.
The YMCA’s Teen Achievers program provides students with inspiration and guidance in setting goals to graduate from high school, gain entry into college, and ultimately achieve successful entry into a career of their choosing.
Through partnerships with area high schools, Teen Achievers teaches students to believe in themselves and strive for success. Last year, Joliet Township High School District 204 had over 80 students actively participate in the Teen Achievers program.
In July, teens from YMCAs around the nation, including six Joliet Township High School YMCA Teen Achievers, joined forces in Houston to help repair homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey. JTHS students shared in the rebuilding efforts and gave back while representing the Joliet community.
Joliet Township High School students and alumni who participated in the home repair project include Yasmin Hall, Hugo Hernandez, Isaac Holman, Rosalinda Ruiz, DeRonte Singletary and Quentasia Traylor.
