Joliet Central High School’s Black Student Union and Unity CDC will host the sixth annual “Community Unity Brunch” on Jan. 19.
The brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jacob Henry Mansion, located at 15 S. Richards St. in Joliet.
The purpose of the brunch is to engage community leaders and families in the Joliet area and celebrate the life, legacy and leadership of Martin Luther King Jr., and all those who helped pave the way for African-American youth, according to a news release.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Ernest Crim III, an educator, activist and co-sponsor of Joliet Central High School’s Black Student Union. Tickets to the brunch are available online at unitycdc.org. Those interested in buying tickets also can call Mac Willis at 815-774-7400, ext. 42650.
