A Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a woman while wielding a machete and stalked his girlfriend and her family, police said.

On Thursday evening, Leonardo Ubaldo-Perez, 25, was booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated stalking in violation of a protective order, stalking and harassment by making threats, according to court records.

Ubaldo-Perez has an active protective order against him that was served May 24, Will County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. The protective order was petitioned for by his 19-year-old girlfriend on behalf of herself and five family members.

The girlfriend’s protective order claimed Ubaldo-Perez was threatening to “shoot up” her house if she didn’t allow him to see her baby daughter and threatening to kill her if she dates another person.

“Leonardo tells me if he gets me pregnant again and if I have a boy, he will give me $2,000 for the child and if it is a girl, he will give me $1,000,” she claimed.

Ubaldo-Perez was arrested by deputies after he was allegedly seen sitting in a parked vehicle near the residence of two people listed as protected in his girlfriend’s order, Hoffmeyer said.

Deputies found knives, a machete, a ski mask and a bullwhip in his car, she said.

Hoffmeyer said he has stalked his girlfriend’s residence and threatened her and her family. In early June, Ubaldo-Perez followed a woman in his car, got out of his car with a machete and threatened to kill her if she didn’t get in his car, she said.
