Area roundup: Minooka boys golf takes second at Ottawa Invitational

The Minooka boys golf team took second at the Ottawa Invitational on Monday with a team score of 317.

In the individual race, Luke Petrovic’s round of 73 placed him second in the field; one shot back in third place was his teammate Matt Sitar.

BOYS SOCCER

Minooka 4, Joliet Central 2: The Indians improved to 6-2-1 with the Southwest Prairie Conference victory.

Ben Joder scored all four goals for Minooka, all on assists from Blake Brandenburg.

MEN’S SOCCER

Lewis 2, Illinois-Springfield 0: The Flyers moved to 4-0 on the season with the shutout victory on Sunday.

Lewis got on the board in the 15th minute when Seth Dilworth played a long pass ahead to Jimmy Mwanga, who beat the defense and put away his first goal of the season.

In the 59th minute, Aris Oluwatuyi also netted his first goal of the season.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Illinois-Springfield 1, Lewis 0: The Flyers couldn’t find the back of the net and they dropped the match.

The only goal was scored on a penalty kick in the 29th minute of the match.

Lewis dropped to 2-2 overall with the loss.

MEN’S BOWLING

St. Francis ranked fourth in preseason poll: The University of St. Francis was ranked fourth in the preseason NAIA Men’s Bowling poll.

The Saints received 52 points in the poll, Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design (66 points), Grand View (Iowa) (62) and Lawrence Tech (56) were the schools ranked ahead of the Saints.
