Menasha Packaging recently donated school supplies and a check for $1,200 to VVSD community schools, just one of the organizations that has partnered with the district.

A key component of the mission and vision of Valley View School District is to initiate and develop partnerships with organizations that serve the VVSD community.

Goal 4, Strategy 7 of the VVSD Strategic Plan states: "We will build reciprocal partnerships with community members, businesses, and organizations to improve access to high quality learning opportunities for our students."

The VVSD Community Schools Initiative is based on the reality that schools are trusted focal points of the communities they serve, and schools can be community delivery points for needed supports.

VVSD is honored by the support of the Community Schools Initiative by several businesses and organizations that have provided donations.

The following is a brief summary of the contributions received since the start of the 2019-20 school year.

All Saints Anglican Church – 36 backpacks containing grade level appropriate supplies for kindergarten to fifth grade-students, along with additional classroom supplies of paper towels, wipes, boxes of tissue and ziplock bags.

Bolingbrook Tee-Ball Association – Conducted a back-to-school supply drive in which their players and parents donated one very large box of school supplies to Valley View students.

Manheim (Cox) Automotive – 1,018 items were collected during an employee school supply drive. Items included backpacks, reams of paper, crayons, markers, hand sanitizer, mechanical pencils, dry erase markers and many more items.

Ferrara Candy – Collected items for 30 backpacks filled with basic school supplies. Additional supplies collected included ear buds, paper towels, wipes and basketballs.

Project Linus – Donated six large bags of blankets. Three of the bags will be raffle prizes for Family Support Day on Nov 2 at Bolingbrook Hgh School.
