U.S. News & World Report selected Lewis University in Romeoville as one of the best colleges for veterans in the region.

Lewis University was ranked No. 14 among institutions that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees, according to a news release.

“When a veteran steps onto campus, he or she is welcomed and supported through many services,” said Roman Ortega Jr., Lewis University’s director of veterans affairs and recruitment. “The Office of Veterans Affairs and Recruitment provides comprehensive support while mentoring and advising students as they navigate college.”

The publication looks at a number of factors, including institutional excellence, student satisfaction and return on investment to develop its rankings.

Lewis University offers more than 80 undergraduate majors, which includes options for Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps through the aerospace studies program and the Army ROTC through the military studies program.

As a global educational partner with the U.S. Department of Defense, Lewis University said it works to provide high-quality, affordable education throughout the world.

Lewis University offers active-duty service members reduced tuition rates, which combined with tuition assistance can significantly lower the cost of their education.

Other publications, including Military Times and GI Jobs, have recognized Lewis University as a military-friendly school, according to the news release.
