A Joliet man who already had been arrested and jailed twice this year allegedly knocked an elderly woman to the ground after he forced his way into her home and stabbed his girlfriend, police said.

About 12:30 p.m. Nov. 29, officers went to the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Sherman Street after receiving a report of a stabbing, Joliet police Sgt. Christopher Botzum said.

When the officers arrived, they found Ricky A. Walker, 49, of Joliet, with his girlfriend near the intersection, Botzum said. She had a stab wound to her leg that was not life-threatening, he said.

The officers were able to determine that Walker had knocked on the door of a home in the 200 block of Fourth Avenue, Botzum said.

When a 71-year-old woman answered the door, she was knocked to the ground as Walker forced his way inside, Botzum said. Once he was inside, Walker struck his 53-year-old girlfriend, he said.

At one point, Walker grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his girlfriend in the leg, Botzum said. He then dragged his girlfriend outside, where the both of them were found by responding officers, he said.

Walker was arrested on charges of home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery against a victim older than 60 and domestic battery, court records show.

Walker also was arrested on March 8 and Sept. 20. He faces charges of criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, domestic battery and resisting police.
