A minor was arrested in connection with a stolen Nissan Murano in Channahon, police said.
About 3 a.m Monday, officers responded to a report of the suspected burglary of a car parked in the Amberleigh Estates neighborhood near Ridge Road and Route 6 in Channahon, according to a Channahon police news release.
A silver Jeep was seen fleeing the area after the burglary occurred, police said. Shortly afterward, officers were sent to Hunter’s Crossing subdivision near Route 6 and South McKinley Woods Road, where a Nissan Murano was reported stolen nearby.
As the officers were investigating the stolen vehicle, both the Nissan Murano and the Jeep returned to the Hunter’s Crossing subdivision, police said.
The officers pursued both vehicles and the Nissan Murano crashed near the intersection of Tallgrass Trail and Woodrush Way, police said.
Officers took the juvenile driver of the Nissan Murano into custody at the scene of the crash, police said.
The minor was taken to AMITA Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet as a precaution, but he was not injured, police said.
The driver of the Jeep remains at large and was last seen speeding north on Interstate 55 and Route 6, police said.
Channahon police are working with Minooka police and other law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident because “it is believed this activity is associated with recent burglary activity in several other surrounding communities,” police said.
Anyone with information on the burglary or the stolen Nissan Murano is asked to call Channahon police at 815-467-2112.
