And that was creating a veterans memorial garden, which JACH always wanted to have ever since it opened the hospice home in 2004, Bersano, senior director of development and communications said.
On May 25, Joliet Area Community Hospice dedicated its new Veterans Memorial Garden, which includes marble monuments and a flag galleria representing each branch of the U.S. military, according to a news release from Joliet Area Community Hospice.
"On the Friday before Memorial Day, we [always] have a ceremony that remembers the veterans that passed away in our program over the past year," Bersano said. "It's usually about 300 people or more because we take care of a lot of veterans."
So it was fitting to dedicate the garden on this particular day, too.
