Trinity Christian School eighth-grade classes have made it a tradition to rake leaves from the yards in neighboring subdivisions.
Focused on community involvement, students clear leaves as a way to serve locally. Trinity incorporates the value of serving others in their curriculum. Students are taught about the responsibility and call to serve, as well as the joy of serving.
Every year, it is a rewarding experience for the students.
“This year was especially rewarding,” Trinity Christian School Administrator Jon Vugteveen said in a news release. “A homeowner contacted Trinity to send a message of gratitude.”
Vugteveen added in the news release, “The homeowner shared that she and her husband have been ill for the past two weeks, unable to rake the leaves themselves. The timing of the students’ service was a much-needed blessing.”
Students in all grade levels participate in service projects throughout the school year.
Trinity Christian School is a private, non-denominational school in Shorewood. The school serves students from preschool through eighth grade.
