“Move Your Feet” initiative raises funds, awareness for Catholic education

SPONSORED

Want to show your support for Catholic education? Then you need to move your feet.

And you can do just that during the Catholic Education Foundation’s upcoming "Move Your Feet to Give a Child a Seat!" campaign, set for Friday, Oct. 18.

During the annual event, 15,000 students from nearly all Diocese of Joliet Catholic schools are joined by faculty, staff and families to highlight awareness about enrollment in area Catholic schools. Students also raise money for new student scholarships by walking loops around their schools.

All monies collected go directly to educate a child in need. No contribution is too big or too small.

Wondering what type of impact those dollars can make? The Move Your Feet event has funded more than 175 new student scholarships since its implementation in 2014.

One student from Joliet Catholic Academy is especially thankful for that financial assistance: “Attending Joliet Catholic Academy has been my dream since I was five-years-old. I am so grateful to those donors who made attending Catholic school a possibility.”

And a mother of five children, three enrolled in a Catholic school, had this to say about the financial help her family is receiving, after the family’s primary breadwinner suffered a career-ending spinal injury: “We are so grateful for the assistance for our children so that they may attend Catholic school. They have excelled since they have begun attending Catholic school, and we are thankful that they will continue to receive the blessings of a Catholic education.”

“The ‘Move Your Feet’ event is the brain-child of Mrs. Eileen Healy, a former Foundation board member,” said Jennifer Georgis, interim executive director of the Catholic Education Foundation.

The Foundation began in 1996 to help provide the financial means for needy students to attend elementary and secondary Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Joliet.

Partner with them by lacing up your sneakers and marching in unity to support Catholic education.
