Plainfield High School-Central Campus senior Georgia Sigler has played piano since she was 4 years old and taken private voice lessons and played the trumpet since sixth grade.
Her mom studied voice in college, and her grandmother and aunt were music teachers, Sigler said.
Sigler is one of the 240 mixed choir members in the 2019 All-National Honor Ensembles sponsored by the National Association for Music Education in November.
The choir and three instrumental ensembles and bands will spend Nov.7 to 10, 2019 in Orlando, Florida working on music and performing concerts.
Sigler is one of 557 students nationwide selected for the choir and band ensembles.
She auditioned for the choir after she was selected to the all-state honors choir in January 2019.
Sigler sings with the high school concert choir, the Madrigals, plays trumpet in the wind ensemble and is a drum major for the marching band.
She plans to study music in college and said she hopes to be an opera singer.
