Six students from the Kelvin Grove School of Lockport District # 91 were selected to perform in the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) District 1 Junior Festival SATB Choir and Band Nov. 9 at Joliet Central High School in Joliet.

The festival involved over 500 students, selected from audition, representing more than 60 schools throughout the southwestern metropolitan Chicago area with over 2000 people in attendance for the concert.

Appearing in the concert were the 150 member festival band, the 100 piece festival orchestra, the SATB festival chorus numbering over 150 voices and the 150 voice treble choir.

Over 1,200 schools will participate in the elementary/junior high festivals throughout the state with over 24,000 students participating in the ILMEA Festival process.

Kelvin Grove music directors are Nicole Henn Plagman (band) and Sarah Bush Randolph (choir).
