My outline for term limits

To the Editor:

The following is a preliminary outline for term limits for all local, state and federal offices, other than president.

Article 1: Persons voted to local, state or federal offices shall serve for no more than two consecutive terms for a period of four years each per term.

Article 2: Individuals shall not be allowed to have funding or political favors provided them by any outside source or individuals.

Article 3: Funding for all elections will be distributed by a current or newly created division of the U.S. Treasury Department.

Article 4: Funds for elections shall be raised only by a tax of no more than a set amount on legal and adult American citizens by the U.S. Government. Such funds shall be allowed to be deducted from their individual income taxes the year after each such election.

Article 5: The FBI will provide scrutiny of the generation and distribution of these funds, as well as supervision of the election process to assure no individual seeking office has contacts by outside sources that could influence the election or the performance of the elected officials.

Very best regards to all my fellow Americans,

Put convicted killers to work

To the Editor:

A man murders his brother, is found guilty by trial and is sentenced to life in prison. His incarceration is paid for by my tax dollars. What a waste of money.

I will admit that I don’t know a lot about our state and federal laws and rules, but in a way it is rewarding this man for committing murder by providing him with food, clothing and shelter for the rest of his life at our expense. He did not care about his victim’s life, nor his own.

I say, get him off of his butt in that nice warm cell and get him out filling the pot holes on state roads and helping repair our crumbling bridges.

I repeat that I don’t know a lot about our laws, but it would help us taxpayers if we could benefit by getting free labor.

Find something good in each day

To the Editor:

I recently overheard a clever saying that we can all appreciate and maybe even incorporate into our daily lives.

It goes something like this: “Maybe every day cannot always be a good day, but there is always something good that can be derived out of each day.”

For if we search with an open mind and heart for the good in each other, than a peaceful world is within reach.

Happiness and peace to all of you in 2020!

David Marco

Careful what you say

To the Editor:

President Trump would tweet that impeachment inquiries were “witch hunts.” It’s almost incredulous how some remarks can come back and haunt you.
