A 37-year-old Joliet man was arrested after he brandished a knife and approached a security guard “in an aggressive manner” at Harrah’s casino in Joliet, according to a criminal complaint.
About 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Juan D. Sarate, of the 300 block of East Washington Street, was arrested at Harrah’s on a charge of aggravated assault, according to Joliet police.
The complaint filed against Sarate alleged that he committed assault by approaching a security guard at the casino “in an aggressive manner while brandishing a knife” and placing him in “reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery.”
Sarate was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in a jail.
Sarate was booked into the Will County jail Friday morning. He was released on his own recognizance about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
A judge ordered Sarate to have no contact with Harrah’s casino or the security guard.
