Morgan Lane, Lockport
Morgan Lane, Lockport

Why Lane was selected:

The Porters senior had a 1,302 total to take second place and had the best high game of 287 to help Lockport to win the overall title at the 25-team Prospect Invite with a 6,107 total.

Lane talked with Herald-News sportswriter Curt Herron. Below is an edited transcript.

Herron: What did you like about your performance?

Lane: In the 287, I started the first frame with a spare and then I struck out until the tenth and my last ball was a seven. It was my high game, three-game series and six-game series.

Herron: What do you like most about your team?

Lane: I really like that everybody bowls for the team and not for themselves. We all put their best foot forward and we have a lot of good communication on ball changes and help each other out with the lane conditions.

Herron: What do you feel about competing Lockport?

Lane: Everybody is so good and there's so much competition. Since you can only bring so many to a tournament, you're constantly trying to make yourself better.

Herron: What do you like the most about bowling?

Lane: I actually didn't want to bowl but my parents made be bowl when I was in seventh grade. They told me to try it and I'd like it and I've ended up loving the sport. Now I'm at the bowling alley every day.

Herron: Who's your biggest influence?

Lane: Mostly my parents, Katie and Jeff, who pushed me to do my best. And my private coaches, the Lockport coaches and my teammates, who just want to make me be better.

Herron: What's your favorite TV show and what's your favorite movie?

Lane: My favorite show is Grey's Anatomy. The Notebook and The Longest Ride.

Herron: What type of music do you like to listen to?

Lane: I like to listen to country music. Right now it's Luke Combs.

Herron: Who's someone that you'd like to meet?

Lane: Thomas Rhett or Luke Combs.

Herron: Do you have any pets?

Lane: I have a Shih Tzu Pomeranian named Murphy.

Herron: What do you want to do in your future?

Lane: I want to be an elementary education teacher.

Herron: What's your favorite class in school?

Lane: Math.

Herron: What's your favorite sports team?

Lane: The White Sox.

Herron: Where's an interesting place you've visited and where would like to visit?

Lane: New York, where I went for my eighth grade graduation. I'd like to go to Australia.

Herron: What's your favorite food and place to eat?

Lane: Chipotle. And Mexican.
