Area roundup: Lincoln-Way West girls basketball beats Fenwick for 20th win

Lincoln-Way West’s girls basketball team continued its winning ways with a 56-49 victory over Fenwick at Coach Kipp’s Hoopfest on Monday at Willowbrook.

The Warriors (20-2) were led by Brianna Wooldridge (14 points, 12 rebounds), Ava Gugliuzza (14 points), Tara Gugliuzza (12 points) and Taylor Gugliuzza (12 points).


Carmel 54, Lincoln-Way East 26: The Griffins lost the third-place game after losing, 65-48, to Maine South in the semifinals.

Dundee-Crown 58, Lincoln-Way Central 36: The Knights (12-11) were led by Regan LoConte (11 points) in the seventh-place game after getting edged by Huntley, 33-30. Haley Stoklosa, Azyah Newson-Cole and LoConte each scored eight points.

Johnsburg 49, Minooka 38: The Indians went 1-1 after beating Plainfield East, 52-41.

Plainfield East 54, Hinsdale South 20: The Bengals settled for a split after falling to Minooka, 52-41.

Providence Catholic goes 2-0: The Celtics (19-5) beat Joliet Catholic Academy, 66-51, and host Bishop McNamara, 74-39.

Ashley Raymer scored 18 points in the win over JCA, while Lauren Knight had 20 points against McNamara.

Rockford East 54, Plainfield South 52: The Cougars lost a close game in the consolation final after beating Plainfield East, 65-60, in their opener.

Joliet Central 62, Plainfield East 55 (OT): Central edged the Bengals in the Steelmen’s final game after falling, 63-53, to Rockford East.

Plainfield North 62, Crete-Monee 56: The Tigers jumped out to a 40-16 halftime lead behind Blake Ellinghaus and Cooper Bridges at Oswego.


Lewis 86, Illinois Springfield 77: The Flyers (11-5, 8-0) won their seventh in a row in the Great Lakes Valley Conference road game.

Rachel Hinders (26 points), Katie Gardner (17 points) and Kaitlyn Williams (14 points) led the way.
