Valley View School District 365U announced the expansion of its emergency meals for kids program to a fifth distribution site at Brooks Middle School in Bolingbrook.

The district's meals program provides meals for children while schools are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brooks Middle School, 350 Blair Lane, will begin distributing meals Monday, according to a news release from the district.

Emergency meals for kids is a drive-thru service available Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. until school resumes in the district.

The school district has four other sites providing meals for children at Bolingbrook High School, Humphrey Middle School, Romeoville High School and Lukancic Middle School.

Each car will receive enough breakfasts and lunches to feed up to four children until the next scheduled day meals will be distributed.

There will be no accommodations made for special diets or allergies and the meals may contain peanuts. For health, safety and convenience, patrons are asked to remain in their car while in the drive-thru.

The district said more than 30,000 meals were handed out on the program's first day last week.
