Plainfield church helps give food to hundreds

On May 6, the Northern Illinois Food Bank's Mobile Pantry and Catholic Charities distributed food to 476 families at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield.

On May 6, the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry and Catholic Charities distributed food to 476 families at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield.

Food was distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies lasted. Food was free to low-income neighbors in need.

This was a drive-thru distribution. Numark Credit Union was the sponsor.

The Helping Hands group included state Rep. Mark Batinick, R-Plainfield, along with Georgette Wurster and Chris Arnold (SMI coordinators), Plainfield Cert Team, Village Administrator Brian Murphy, Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek, Commander Ken Ruggles and Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton.
