Letter: Don’t cover protesters’ defiance of our flag

To the Editor:

I appreciate the article that Alex Ortiz wrote on June 8 about prayers for unity, and that’s what we should do, pray others will come together peacefully and not with more violence.

However, I was upset to see a picture of protesters hanging our U.S. flag upside down.

Yes, it is in the news, we just don’t need to cover their defiance of our flag. If these protesters would take time and read our history of our forefathers, as well as look into what freedom our veterans have fought for, to give us our freedom of speech and to live in a free country, perhaps they can be more appreciative.

Yes, peaceful protesting can be good, but some people need to be thankful we don’t have to worry about being “collected” due to race or religion and put into a gas chamber.
