Canadian semitrailer driver dies after vehicle leaves I-80, rests in a bean field: coroner

A Canadian semitrailer driver died after his truck left the roadway on Interstate 80 and came to a rest in a bean field, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

Barry J. Aleman, 59, of Coalhurst, Alberta, was pronounced deceased at 2:22 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lane of I-80 at mile marker 124 in Troy Township, officials said.

Aleman was the driver of a semitrailer that left the roadway and came to a rest in a bean field, officials said.

The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The final cause and manner of death will be determined pending the review of police, autopsy and toxicological reports.
