For a while there one night a few weeks ago, the mayor of Joliet had more people on the front porch of his home than he did standing across the street from it.
The ones across the street were there to protest and demand Mayor Bob O’Dekirk’s resignation. The ones on the porch, at least for the most part, who can say why they were there? But they did seem to be enjoying themselves at times, judging from their laughter.
One of the protesters, Stephanie Batozech, wasn’t amused by the mayor’s levity. She accused O’Dekirk of “laughing at your own people.”
Batozech also said the mayor gave her the finger and she shouted at him, “Did you just flip me off mayor?”
