Hummingbirds, lizards and bats featured in Will County's forest preserve in-person and online programs

The Forest Preserve District of Will County continues to offer small in-person programs and in August for those who want to bone up on nature, get fit or simply relax:

BRAIDWOOD -- Reptiles of the Dunes, 45-minute sessions at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., July 29, Braidwood Dunes and Savanna Nature Preserve. Learn about the preserve’s cool reptiles. Free; all ages. Register by July 28; ReconnectWithNature.org or 815-722-9470.

SHOREWOOD – “Mysteries of the Bat Revealed,” 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 7, Hammel Woods – Route 59 Access, Shorewood Shelter. Hike through Hammel Woods and explore the native habitats of local bat species. Wear long pants and bug repellent. Free; ages 5 or older. Register by Aug. 5; ReconnectWithNature.org or 815-722-9470.

MONEE TOWNSHIP – “Early Morning Bird Hike,” 7 to 9 a.m. Aug. 8, Monee Reservoir. Beat the heat and join this early morning guided bird hike. Bring binoculars; a limited amount will be available for loan. Free; ages 18 or older. Register by Aug. 6; ReconnectWithNature.org or 708-946-2216.
