Two men were arrested in connection with two hit-and-run accidents in New Lenox over the weekend, police said.
Larry Brown Jr., 22, of Tinley Park was arrested Saturday on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a property damage accident at Shagbark Road and Heatherway Lane, according to a New Lenox police news release.
On Sunday, Manuel Martinez-Guevara, 22, of Joliet was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident that caused injuries at Lincoln Highway and Interstate 80, police said.
At close to 9:15 p.m. Saturday, officers were sent to Shagbark Road and Heatherway Lane after receiving a report of a hit-and-run crash, police said. The officer met with driver of a vehicle that was rear-ended in traffic and who provided a description of the other vehicle, police said.
A short time later, the vehicle was located, the officer met with Brown and learned he was “driving under the influence of alcohol,” police said. Brown posted bond and was released on his own recognizance, police said.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, an officer was sent to Lincoln Highway and I-80 in response to another report of a hit-and-run crash, police said.
The officer met with the driver of the vehicle that was hit and learned that while the other vehicle remained on scene, the driver and occupants “all fled on foot after the crash,” police said.
An officer found Martinez-Guevara, the driver of the other vehicle, and learned he didn't driver’s license, police said. He was arrested and released on his own recognizance, police said.
