The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has given state Rep. Margo McDermed its “Champion of Free Enterprise” award.
The Chamber awards the honor to legislators who have made special contributions to the “defense of free enterprise and the furtherance of economic opportunities for Illinoisans,” according to a news release.
“At a time when Illinois businesses are struggling more than ever, it is so important that those of us in Springfield continue to support them,” McDermed, R-Mokena, said in the release. “We cannot forget that Illinois businesses, especially small businesses, are the state’s engine. Only through them will we attract more residents, grow and prosper.”
The Chamber rated all members of the 101st General Assembly based on their votes on “key business legislation” as determined by staff and the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.
